Cone Zone: Boulder Street update — the city wants to hear from us

MSRNA has requested a neighborhood meeting regarding Boulder Street, but City Traffic Engineer Todd Frisbie states that internal planning is not yet complete. Residents can provide input via email, as the city prepares for a full repaving in 2027. Community involvement is crucial to developing effective recommendations for the street’s future.

District 11 Donates Quarry Stone to the Neighborhood

School District 11 has donated a quarry stone fence to Middle Shooks Run for preservation as a park feature. The stone, linked to a local quarry and previous property use, will be designed with community input. Neighbors are encouraged to share ideas and offer assistance in the project.

Fall Creek Clean-up – Saturday, September 26, 2026

Join Middle Shooks Run neighbors on September 26, from 10am–12pm, for a creek cleanup along Shooks Run Creek as part of Creek Week. Meet at Middle Shooks Run Park with closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and hat. Kids are welcome with an adult. Registration available online or on-site.

Mosaics Project – Tile Glazing Workshop – 22 July 2026

The Mosaic Project kicks off with its first tile-making session on Saturday, June 6, from 9–11am at a garage studio near Mid Shooks Run Park. Neighbors will create ceramic tiles for public art on lamp post bases, guided by volunteer Frank. No experience necessary; families and donations are welcome.

Boulder St Closed Permanently

The Boulder Street right-of-way vacation between Nevada Ave and Weber St was approved by the City Council with a 6-2 vote. School District 11 representatives discussed campus operations, stating that activities will consolidate in the new campus. They confirmed the Erps property will remain for athletic use, with no plans for divestment.

Recap: Spring Creek Cleanup

On May 2, Middle Shooks Run neighbors participated in Creek Week, Colorado’s largest watershed cleanup. Volunteers collected 51 bags of trash and cleared large debris from Shooks Run Creek, contributing 36 man-hours to enhance the community’s local environment. This event highlighted the positive impact of residents caring for their surroundings.
