Following City Council’s reconsideration of the March 10 vote, the motion to vacate the Boulder Street right-of-way between Nevada Ave and Weber St was approved today by a vote of 6–2. Councilors Gold and Donelson voted against the motion. Under City Code, a vacation of right-of-way may not be reconsidered once approved by Council.
During the hearing, representatives from School District 11 outlined their intentions for the main campus and Erps Gym facility. To help keep the neighborhood informed, we are sharing the following points provided by the District:
– Campus Operations: District representatives stated that student activities are expected to be consolidated within the new “super block” campus, even if the District is unable to secure funding to relocate the athletic facility currently housed at Erps Gym.
– Erps Field: The field located one block east of the main campus is planned to remain in use for after-school athletic programming.
– Property Status: The District stated that it does not intend to sell, donate, or otherwise divest the Erps property and plans to continue using the site for athletics.
We will continue staying engaged to identify opportunities to improve pedestrian safety at Wasatch and Platte, and now especially along St. Vrain and Willamette as alternative routes for walking and biking to downtown.
