Event: Jane Jacobs Walk – March 21

Join your neighbors for a morning of walking and conversation! On Saturday, March 21st, we are hosting a Jane Jacobs Walk led by Community Coordinator Heather Briggs.

Inspired by the legacy of urban visionary Jane Jacobs, these walks are not just tours; they are “walking conversations.” They are designed to help us observe our environment, share personal stories, and better understand the social connections that make Middle Shooks Run a vibrant place to live.

Event Details

  • When: Saturday, March 21st, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM
  • Meeting Point: Switchback Coffee Roasters (330 N Institute St, 80903)
  • Route: Approximately 1.2 miles.
  • Leader: Heather Briggs, heather@heyneighbor.org or 719-266-2605

What to Expect

The focus of this walk is social connection. Heather is currently developing a toolkit for neighborhood newcomers and wants to hear from you. As we walk, we will discuss:

  • Where are you finding connection in the neighborhood?
  • What organizations or places are vital to our community?
  • What is missing that would help neighbors connect even more?

How to Prepare

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the spring weather. The walk is free and open to everyone. Whether you have lived here for decades or just moved in, your perspective is valuable to the conversation.

We look forward to seeing you at Switchback Coffee for a caffeine kick-off before we hit the sidewalks!

About Jane Jacobs Walks: Jane Jacobs was a celebrated author and activist who believed that local residents understand best how their neighborhoods work. These global walks honor her legacy by encouraging people to choose walking as a viable, social, and healthy way to engage with their community.
